Eco Tours

31 passenger Pontoon Boat on the Withlacoochee River in Yankeetown, Florida.Welcome to one of the most outstanding river tours Florida has to offer. Captain Rick LeFiles, owner of Osprey Guide Services now has several packages for your touring pleasure. Osprey IV, our new USCG certified 31 passenger vessel, gives us the ability to custom design your trip. Special events, educational, social, and corporate group tours are available in addition to our scheduled daily trips. Our boats are docked at Izaak Walton Lodge, on the banks of the Withlacoochee River located in Yankeetown, Florida.

Relax.....enjoy the first segment of the seven mile loop along the rivers dark waters to the Gulf of Mexico. Our captain's and mates will recreate it's vivid past with antique photographs Their historical knowledge will breath life into the busy maritime industry along the river during the late 1800's.

All trips are unique due to the daily tidal swing, some as high as five feet. Foraging deer, turkey, wild boar and alligators are common. Porpoise crashing mullet schools, manatee with offspring and several species of fish can be seen above and below the surface from your vantage point on Osprey IV. Be sure to bring your camera and polarized sun glasses.

The Withlacoochee is a bird watchers paradise due to its proximity to the Gulf. Many inshore and near shore birds will be seen. Nesting Bald Eagles and Osprey are prevalent. White and Brown Pelicans, Oyster Catchers, Gulls, Plovers and many other species of wading and diving birds stalk nearby prey along the shoreline and oyster bars at low tide.

The second leg of your trip will be the three mile return along a secluded side tributary known as Bennett Creek. Roseate Spoonbill and the only native American stork, the Wood Stork, are appreciated here almost year-round.

Plant lovers will enjoy an endless array of floral and fauna. Tidal marsh with a lush Spartina growth in the estuary beds reach out as far as one can see. Our state tree, the Sabal Palm, are spread throughout the trip along with old growth Cedar and Cypress draped in Spanish Moss. White Swamp Lilies, Spider Lilies, Climbing Aster, and Wild Purple Iris are just a few of the smaller plants to be admired along the way.

We know you will share in our enthusiasm for this beautiful river and all it has to offer.

Eco Tour 20 foot pontoon boatMake your trip private and personal in Osprey III, our comfortable 20 ft Bennington pontoon, USCG certified for up to six passengers. You will have direct input throughout the trip with your guide. Interact with your guest and even do a little guiding of your own. The Captain will be happy to make navigation adjustments when that special photo opportunity presents itself. They will linger a little longer as the sunset reflects off the water at the end of another beautiful day on the Withlacoochee.

Your friends will be impressed that you chose this trip to bring them on. We guarantee it.
